Frugal Love

For Valentine's Day, Pete picked me these flowers:

I baked him this carrot/ apple/ sweet potato cake (using juicer pulp) with marmalade frosting:

We wrote each other poems.  I feel very blessed!

  3. A perfect Valentine exchange! This year we made a pact: he would finally finish painting the big cinderblock wall that I started 3 years ago and never got more than halfway on, and I would weed and mulch the bed around the AC units for him, which is knee-hi in grass. We're both over the moon about it!

  9. OzJane - I tried carrot and sweet potatoe cake because that is what we had on hand - my husband loved it, even though he doesn't really care for sweet potatoes, hehehehe

  10. I love these gifts, they mean so much more than gifts that your Valentine feels compelled to buy for you, because of how commercialized these "holidays" have become.

  11. Shelly - I agree! And it helps that I actually do like wildflowers more than store-bought flowers :)
